Calgary, Canada – Arjun Singh Gill, 20-year-old, a young athlete and the son of former Alberta MLA Prabh Gill, who was killed in a motorcycle accident late Sunday evening.
The crash took place at the busy intersection of 16 Avenue and 10 Street NW, just outside the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT). Despite the quick response of emergency crews, Gill did not survive the collision.
Known for his love of sports and his involvement in wrestling, Arjun was described as a vibrant young man who inspired those around him. Friends say his energy and kindness left a lasting impression.
“It’s heartbreaking to even put this into words,” one close family friend wrote online. “This is a loss beyond measure for Prabh bhaaji and his family. What they need most right now is our prayers and support.”
A Community in Mourning
The Gill family has long been a familiar name in Calgary. Prabh Gill, who served as the MLA for Calgary-Greenway from 2016 to 2019, has received an outpouring of condolences from across the city.
Community leader Tejinder Singh shared his grief in a statement: “My heart aches for the Gill family on the loss of their beloved Arjun. May his soul rest in peace, and may his parents and loved ones find strength in this difficult time.”
Beyond the personal tragedy, the accident has reignited conversations about motorcycle safety in Alberta. According to provincial statistics, young riders are among the most vulnerable in road collisions, particularly during summer months when motorcycle use peaks. Advocates continue to urge caution and increased awareness for both riders and drivers.
